“I wanted to buy a regular Pi Zero for quite a while, but it was always out of stock. Now i finally got a Pi Zero W and i love it. The addition of Wifi might not be worth 5 bucks in components, but i think it is a totally reasonable price and will probably also increase availability, due to the bigger margin for the manufacturer.
I am currently using it as a motion detecting surveillance camera, in the official case with the camera lid and the Pi NoIr camera module. I have motion (http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion) running on it, configured with mail sending and ftp uploading. The whole assembly is mounted in a Manfrotto MCLAMP (smartphone tripod adapter; the generic ones are probably working fine as well) to attach it to a small tripod ballhead. The only other addition is a micro USB cable for power, as i am managing the box via SSH, SCP and occasionally Webmin.
I measured an average power consumption”
“It's hard to find the Raspberry Pi Zero in Australia let alone a Pi Zero W! Ordered from here and couldn't have been happier, shipping to Aus was decent and didn't take very long”
“Perfect build quality. Easy to use. Easy to modify. Fits loads of accessories found on eBay and similar sites around the net! WiFi and BT is a very welcome feature! I whish there was a PoE version though.”
