Really strikes all those nostalgia chords when you first get your hands on it. Good button throw, great screen, not that hard to assemble. Love that you can run directly via usb or batteries, as your needs dictate. Great experience ordering, DHL did not do a great job with updates across customs, but that is likely more customs fault than theirs. Overall, I would recommend.

Bought in conjunction with a rasp pi zero w, the idea was to learn a bit about retro gaming builds. the rasp pi zero w is incredible value at under a tenner and married to this case makes a serious case (pun intended) as the best retro setup currently available. retroflag have really outdone themselves both the quality and look of this case are superb and the idea of having a 'game' cartridge that's removable holding the pi zero is genius. easy to download and install scripts and other extra files complete a wonderful product. all i have got to do know is build it, wish me luck!

This is a really well executed product, the look and feel is almost indistinguishable from and original Game Boy. It is easy to put together and at least so far with a RetroPie image, it seems to be working just fine. A couple of nuances to be aware of: - After a (long) apt upgrade on the downloaded RetroPie image, it had stomped on one of the overlay files required to drive the screen (from the GPi driver pack) - make sure you put this back or script around it. - The latest versions of Raspbian seem to break the audio driver - you need to add the following to the first line of /boot/cmdline.txt: snd_bcm2835.enable_hdmi=1 snd_bcm2835.enable_headphones=1 snd_bcm2835.enable_compat_alsa=1 - I tried getting a USB keyboard to work through the rear panel USB port but no luck yet. Hope these tips help someone!

Works very nicely :) I've got it playing all my favourite 8-bit and 16-bit era games with RetroPie. I'm using it with a decent USB power bank rather than AA batteries so not experienced the battery eating described in some of the other reviews. Also, when you put it together and nothing appears on the screen, don't worry, the pogo pins probably are OK, you've probably just forgotten to install the patch as described in the instructions. With the patch in place, all is good.

The first order came with a faulty cartridge adapter. However, the PiHut team was very kind and assisted with the debug and, when no working solution was found, assited with multiple refund solutions. The second controller worked perfectly, so it was a one-time issue, perfectly managed by the team

Excellent quality case, screen and audio on this thing are great. Good quality button controls and even a headphone jack! Easy to assemble if you follow the instructions in the box. Good service and quick delivery as usual from pi hut.
