“This is a great item. However, sure there is always a but or a however. Some of this is down to my initial inexperience of the Pi platform and what is available for it now. I had a specific plan in place to try and replicate Project Nomad, without having to buy an expensive linux (£4500) laptop. I also want to try and avoid as much of the US cloud act as I can. So, the plan was get the biggest Raspi, which now turns out is 16GB and priced accordingly (thanks Trump!). Still lots of budget left. What would have been useful to know is the various HATs, I ended up buying the nvme HAT+ and getting an SSD from elsewhere because of stock issues (thanks again Trump!). So, I now have an extremely fast Raspi, with significant contents of Kiwix zim files downloaded locally onto it. Next step is to code up a Python app to open the zim files and chunk them to build embeddings for Ollama to work with. I know this won't give me quite what I would get with the Linux laptop but it will be usable and who knows as the models get better?Cover me, I am going in!!!”
