“I had a great time with both my daughters (5 & 8 yo) when assembling (and then playing) with this "spider" robot. It was really easy to assemble (easier than most of Lego sets).”
“The basic Spider Robot is great value at just £7.
Ii is easy to assemble if you follow the instructions with care. But you do need to check the fine details in the instructions pictures.
The pieces needed to be detached from the plastic formers, and the instructions suggested using "diagonal cutters". I was a little nervous that I might break the pieces as I removed them, but they all detached easily without a problem, and I hardly needed the cutters,
All the plastic pieces slotted together without need of any glue, One of the leg connections was a very tight fit, and needed correct alignment before the tab slipped into place, but all the rest fitted together without a problem.
I am impressed with its walking movements.
Note, as sold, it only walks forward in a straight line.
I am considering buying a second Spider Robot (and some extra components) to build a controllable Spider Bot. This would allow the left and right legs to have independent movements via their separate motors
Oh, and on mine, one of the red wires on the "on/off" switch was very fragile and had to be re-soldered.”
