“This screen is rather good. I knocked up a silly script that combines images with quotes, which was a poor use of a lazy Saturday but keeps me off the streets.
If you want to see the code, open source of course, here it is: https://github.com/bwaymark/inkyquotescreen”
“I enjoyed using the Inky Impression to make a little dashboard for my home solar + battery setup.
It has turned out pretty well, but one thing I wish I'd known up-front was that when you update the screen it goes through several seconds of quite wild flashing as part of the refresh cycle which was a bit disconcerting. I don't mind that it takes a few seconds to refresh (it says that on the description) but the flashing process wasn't expected.
Nevertheless, it has been very easy to use with the inky Python library and the result overall has been really good.”
“Purchased the Inky Impression 7.3” e-ink display from The Pi Hut. The display arrived promptly and was well protected in transit. Hardware quality is excellent, with a rigid PCB, well-aligned panel, and clearly labelled connections. Integration with Raspberry Pi was straightforward using the official Pimoroni Python libraries, with reliable SPI communication and consistent refresh behaviour. Colour rendering and contrast are very good for an e-ink display of this size, and power consumption is low once refreshed, making it ideal for always-on dashboards. Overall, the product performs exactly to specification and The Pi Hut provided a smooth, professional purchasing experience.”
