“I bought the kit - with battery holder and lanyard, etc. I would recommend that to almost everyone.
It was simple to set up and nOt difficult to take the badge.py sample, disembowel it, and use it as the base for my own "text plus QR code" badge. The text in question is my name and the QR code is for my blog. I fully expect to be able to use the 5 buttons for pagination. It should be a good talking point at conferences. The code, by the way, is now in main.py - so it runs at power on. (The e-ink screen means this won't be often.)
I also tried the web-accessing samples and they worked nicely, Wi-Fi being easy to set up.
In short this is a very nice piece of kit that you could have a lot of fun with - provided you like programming (in MicroPython.)”
“An absolutely fantastic board, so much to say so I'll try and compound it down. For context I'm by no means a Python pro, not even amateur, somewhere north of Beginner.
Using this device has been a learning experience for me, but not as drastic as I'd thought at the beginning. If you read the beginner guides you can do some great things. My projects are nothing special but I've got a Tamagotchi of sorts I've created which is not running nicely on the Badger.
Build wise the device feels premium without being heavy. So far this has been the easiest display I've worked with and the buttons are a great addition.
Between the example projects in the repo and the starter guides you should be up and running in no time”
