“I couldn't (reliably) use this without a little bit of soldering (I didn't want to put the provided header on, nor solder it directly to the Pi).
I found that tinning the required pins on the shim (3,4,5,6 and 17 i think) allowed me to press-fit it onto the back side of the Pi's 40-pin connector. After screwing it down, its on there pretty solid and the buttons and LED work flawlessly.”
