Great quality kit - fun project to build and clear instructions on both the hardware and the software side. Built it as an airplay speaker in my son’s room for to play audiobooks while he falls asleep, so I don’t have to leave my phone in there! Highly recommended.

It's very fun project but to have this is mind: 1. It takes about a day to assemble, which is fun of course, but the guide states half an hour but that does not even cover the assembly of the acrylic parts. 2. The software used for it to work is old and/or buggy For one, I could not get internet radio with pimoronis curl command to work until I downloaded the raspbian image from 2018(!!) And even then it is impossible to get the light bars to behave, and believe me when I say that I have tried. It seems like there is a bug in their library as there is an unmerged PR in their github repo to fix the issue. I hope that this is useful for anyone who have bought the project and are unable to get it to work!

The kit was really simple to put together, even more so if you get hammer in headers and avoid the soldering. Once put together (as an internet radio) it works great, even with my less than stellar connection. Easy to add stations and now doing a good job in my work room. Highly recommended and great value for money. Also, the extra speaker is a no-brained for stereo sound.

Bought this kit to create my own airplay speaker. Works like a charm! Very decent quality. Am still tweaking the code to allow more functionality! A whole lot of fun!

It’s a lite version, anyway. I have to setup WiFi in console mode. And I don’t know why, the “next” button not works. It’s also impossible to set a playlist on web, can only copy a playlist into radio. Kind of complexity. My proposal was make one as a handmade gift, but that not gonna happen. Because no one can configure WiFi easily.

Mine was let down with minor issues, resolved very quickly by PiHut. As a concept...five stars...but I think that the speaker mounting could be improved...errr...tightened-up? Sorry.
