“Needing a humidity measurement I didn't have on my original DPS310 sensor, I opted to use the Grove-enabled BME280. This has given me the outputs I need and also allowed calculation of other values used in weather monitoring, Dew Point and 'weather-map' atmospheric pressure as against the absolute value that these sensors all measure. Accuracy appears as good as previous sensors used although the housing of the module does have a marked influence on this. Air flow over the humidity sensor and locally generated heat sources all have to be taken into consideration. Service, stock availability and packaging are always excellent from the Pi-Hut [even though I actually use only Arduinos:-)] and I'd certainly recommend them as a supplier. Long term operation of the BME280 is still under test but so far it's doing its job admirably. The system is currently undergoing the addition of LoRa transmission of data which may or may not affect the sensor so this is definately still a work in progress. Final usage is actually for enviromental data transmission from DSLR camera traps oddly enough but implemetation of the sensors was easy so everything I can monitor will be included.”
