“Great to have a motor you can control directly from a microcontroller without the need for a motor driver board. Quality seems good, smooth, reasonably quiet, very little play in the gear train. A part that would be excellent if not let down a bit by encoder related drawbacks:
The encoder only tells you there is movement, not what direction the movement is in.
The encoder output is not open collector as the docs suggest, its a 0 to 5V square wave, so you dont get to put it directly into any controller that is not 5V tolerant, which takes away some of the convenience.”
