“I bought this motor for a small university project. I was able to control the motor (drving it both forwards and in reverse) using an Arduino connected through a H-Bridge style Driver board (with a PWM controlling the speed of the motor). While I intended to make use of the encoder functionality integrated into this motor for precise control, I didn't have enough time to make sense of the code supplied. Fortunately, just simply calculating the length of time the motor needed to run for was good enough for my project.
From the limited tests I was able to run on this motor and the encoder:
The motor will run on as low as 1V as stated
There does appear to be a small different in speed when running the motor clockwise compared to anti-clockwise
From what I tell from connecting an oscilloscope to the encoder outputs, the encoder circuitry does appear to work with a 3.3V supply, but I cannot say if it was designed to run on anything other than 5V.
Anyway, for my purposes the motor worked as expected and without any issues.
As usual, The Pi Hut's delivery service was excellent, with very quick dispatch, using a tracked royal mail service which tends to turn up the next day (or the following day at the very latest) which is exceptional for someone living in Northern Ireland (we have a lot of issues relating to postage due to the issues surrounding Brexit).
I can always recommend Pi Hut's products, especially since they provide access to well written and detailed guides for a lot of the products they list”
