I've overclocked the pi and have been using it for some retro gaming, streaming and connecting to my work computer and not once has the temp gone over 48c. “I have purchased 2 Raspberry Pi4 devices. One device has a passive aluminium heat sink: the CPU runs at circa 49 deg. C and there seems to be no degradation in performance.
On the other Raspberry Pi 4 I have installed the ICE-Tower CPU Cooler and the CPU is cooled to 36 to 38 deg. C. I am running the ICE Cooler on the 3 Volt connection which means that the fan noise is hardly perceptible.
