“It went together fairly easily and it booted up straight away from the SDD I had setup earlier. Obviously this is much neater than having a separate drive bay hanging by a cable. It no longer complains of excessive temperature.
The picture shows a USBC power socket but I received a unit with a round socket, which is slightly disappointing. The GPIO flexi is tight up against a pillar. The USB link to the HDD is not as in the picture but has about 5mm of metal visible between the socket and plastic work and the plastic work itself obstructs the port below. An external link is a bit of a bodge anyway, being dictated by the Pi4 design but it could be much neater.”
“Fairly good build, some components slightly mis-aligned. The deal breaker for this case is that safe shutdown is not really that. I expected to push a button and a script would fire on the Pi to shut it down and then power would be cut from the Pi. I found something from the developer on Github that stated the "safe shutdown" feature as they see it was the cutting of power to the board once you have shut it down safely yourself. For a case of this price, it's a bit of a let down.”
“The DeskPi Pro V2 is a very well built case make of metal and overall completely makes the Raspberry Pi discreet, however it has a lack of wall mounting options which made it unsuitable for our project, so we decided to return it. However, as a case for anyone else who needs a reliable, study case for desktop use, it's probably well suited (considering the use of metal as well makes it more durable). We moved to the DeskPi Lite for out project but its from the same manufacturer, so overall I'd recommend this product despite us not committing to it for our own internal reasons, rather than any negative reflection on the product itself.”
“Very nice box for Pi4,
A couple of minor grumbles.
First, the SSD mounting. The fixing holes for the SSD are just a bit (maybe a mm or two) too far from the SSD connector. It means the SSD just doesn't quite click onto the interface as I'd like. I just want to push it back a tad further to make sure it sits properly and ensure the connection is good.
Second, the fan. I haven't spent a lot of time yet, but struggling to get the fan running (Ubuntu). The connections are good 'cos it runs properly under Buster. I'll work it out one weekend.
Other than those points, all good.”
