“A board with great potential, but I received ver 1.2 of this board, where the wiki only documents v1.0 and v1.1. This board still seems to suffer from poor wifi without an additional 100uF capacitor on the 3.3v - as documented elsewhere AND it seems that it have v0.1 of the ESP32-C6 - which has an annoying errata of only 8-bit of the ADC working - meaning the voltage sense for the battery is in steps of 30mV”
“I previously tried connecting a small solar panel to the normal USB input on an el-cheapo ESP32 dev board, which ended in tears. This FireBeetle board works a treat, and deep-sleep current is far lower than the el-cheapo board. I'll definitely buy some more when I think of another creative way to use it.”
“Nice little board, which I bought in order to try and build a Zigbee sensor node for use with Home Assistant. The low price makes it ideal for this.
Zigbee is still an ongoing experiment, but the board is supported in Arduino.
I have also tested BLE and wireless. Circuitpython seems supported although I had to use the Adafruit esp32-c6 version, but it's very similar.
The LiPo support is very useful, and seems to work fine.”
“I ordered a couple of the FireBeetle 2 ESP32 C6 boards for a weather sensor for the garden using MQTT and going into deep sleep to prolong the solar / battery life. Perfect device, everything working as it should. Great service from the PiHut as usual!”
