“I've used dozens of off-brand cheapie DFPlayers without problem. This time I was building a production device (not a hobby thing) and so thought I should invest in some branded hardware from established vendors. This included this DFRobot module from PiHut. Either 1. it arrived faulty or 2. I somehow fried it within about 30 seconds (I've never damaged one before), or 3, it's the most delicately fragile bit of hardware that it should only be handled in silence, in a cleanroom. I reverted to a knock-off Chinese ebay version and of course that is rock solid. Just annoyed with myself for trusting brands, really.”
“Works really well, using it as a standalone MP3 player to add sound to a project. Bit annoying it announces which mode its in when powered on, but otherwise can’t fault it.”
“Highly professional store. I use it mainly for Arduino and components and it's certainly a supplier of choice for me - so easy to use and everything laid out simply to be able to choose. They also sell Adafruit components and other quality items which are difficult to get elsewhere. 6 stars.”
“Hardware works well enough but the library files and documentation not particularly good. For instance it doesn't tell you that if you want to play a specific file the string with the name has to start from the root directory with a "/". For instance the string for a file in the root directory is "/File0001.mp3". Also nothing in the documentation to tell you which is the optimum sampling is either. I also had to modify the library file to reduce one of the delays that was in them.”
