Much better to use this USB adaptor with the HQ camera rather than being restricted by the short flexible Pi camera lead. I haven't yet investigated to see if there is any loss of picture quality or sensitivity.

This is a fantastic little addon to my colleaction. Its a great tool to debug and play with new lenses, and learning how camera's work. I really think this is a fantastic adapter, and I'm thinking of buying a second for a project. (My current one is used in a webcam setup for demoing stuff in meetings!!)

The Arducam board does indeed turn the Pi HQ camera into a USB camera. It works well. However, I was disappointed that only motion jpeg is offered and not uncompressed YUYV. This is supposed to be a versatile camera for a versatile SBC, but this limits it to being little more than a webcam. (and an expensive webcam at that). The shutter speed has a minimum of 500ms which is absurd, as with OPEN CV and a bit of Python code, exposures of several seconds at least are possible. Moreover, the camera should be capable of outputting 12 bit data and this is not even considered. I hope that this project will be extended so that the Pi HQ camera can be a truly useful and versatile USB camera rather than an expensive gimmick. This project has real potential, but currently falls short!

This adapter is amazing! Using the USB adapter allowed me to remote the camera. Ribbon cables were to fragile. Great product

It works perfect! No problems at all, however it would be nice with a software package for Windows, where You can control manual settings.

Essential for using the Pi HQ Camera with a Pi 400 or for turning it into a UVC webcam for use with other operating systems such as Windows 10. It works well but video stutters badly at higher resolutions and there is a noticeable lag when adjusting focus, zoom and aperture on the Pi 400. Presumably this is because it is connected to the Pi 400 via a USB port rather than via the camera interface found on the other Pi models. On the Pi 400 it is suitable for low resolution video and for still photographs at any resolution. It works well as a webcam on my W10 PC with no video stutter - presumably because it has a much more powerful processor and more RAM than the Pi 400. The downloadable Windows App for the adapter is quirky and rather dated but there are other Windows programs available to download. I found it works best if the provided W10 app is used to set the resolution and other settings but the images are captured using either the W10 camera app or an app downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

This board is great! I was a bit sceptical but the picture quality is really excellent, especially at 1080p 60fps, and as advertised it works fully without drivers, something I needed for a locked-down work PC. The default exposure setting made it appear very dark, but this was easily adjusted using the AmCap software. The same camera settings are available in Skype (but not Teams) if you need to make adjustments. After testing I cased mine in an old Pac-Man speaker to make it more friendly and protect the circuit. If I was being ultra picky I'd say the supplied cable is a bit short, but all in all I'm very pleased with this purchase.
