“A nice compromise, the kit requires assembly then provides a very functional Geiger counter radiation monitor that is easy to use and fascinating too.
Not sure what age range this is intended for but most likely all ages will require some supervision and support to build and then use the kit (there are high voltages 300-600V used for the G-M tube).
Once assembled the radiation counter mainly reacts to gamma radiation and some high energy beta so sources are less common around the modern house but some rock types and old (WW2 vintage?) watches or aircraft instruments may be interesting to test (carefully!).
The kit can be connected to a computer for logging and that it is fun to build making an interesting project to use as well.”
