“I bought this little book of SMD capacitors / resistors along with a blank SMD book to store the random collection of other SMD parts I had. This product and the blank book are basically a ring-bound leather-like folder (small, not A4) with clear plastic pages, each one having a number of pockets that will take reels of SMD components (one side only).
Previously I attempted to store rolled-up SMD tapes in storage boxes with little compartments but from experience, this is really a terrible idea - sounds fine and works okay for the first few times you use them, but eventually it's a nightmare labelling the parts, they unravel and fall into the wrong compartment, etc. Anyway this book (and the blank book I also bought) are the PERFECT solution to the problem. In fact, with the blank book, I enjoyed labelling all the parts up using a labelling machine with clear tape. Works a treat and I can re-label them later when parts change.
As for this product (the book with capacitors and resistors) it's an excellent thing to just have for that moment you need a part and have every other value except the one you need!
Some constructive feedback: I'd love to see more variation if possible, e.g. including tantalum caps, higher capacitor values (there's not that much above 0.1uF) and perhaps even some SS24 diodes, polyfuses, 1204 LEDs, and other unusual stuff that might get used one day. Maybe there's such thing as a reel of 25 assorted parts?
Second constructive feedback (not sure if Pi-Hut have any control over this?) but I wonder if it's possible to provide pages in the blank book that have larger pockets as well as the size provided? I have a number of reels (not RCL parts but larger things like SMD LDO regulators etc.) that very ALMOST fit but didn't quite, despite cutting the reel's width down (which is a bit fiddly). That would make this even better.
Just being fussy - this book is an absolute no brainer for anyone who does any manual SMD work.
As for the quality I was really pleased. Nicely made, nothing flimsy, all well-made. The metal ring binder is strong.”
“Great to have so many values available without the wait for a delivery. Very packaged in the book and components tested so far seem accurate and consistent.
You can get the same thing elsewhere online, however you cannot be sure what you will get.”
