“My experience level with writing code for these types of controllers is beginner/intermediate level. This product is really targeted at the beginner level but can be used by anyone, for a huge number of projects. The number of sensors and pins make this such a versatile board without even considering the huge array of built in sensors that you’d usually have to buy separately and wire with some sort of breadboard.
The Circuit Playground Express is a fantastic board for learning the basics of Arduino (C++) coding as well as Circuit Python, an incredible number of sensors on this board with example code for each of them. Finding the example code is sometimes a struggle but the Adafruit website does have a huge amount of content that is very helpful.
Combining the sensors is a fun project too, for example lighting the 10 LEDs in a variety of patterns or colours based on the temperature readings, or based on sound from the microphone or the amount of ambient light via the light sensor. Lots of fun to be had.
Compared the reading of the temperature sensor to that on our baby monitor in my and was comparatively accurate to within 0.5-1.0 degree centigrade. I’m sure with tweaking the code the accuracy could be increased too.
The community around Circuit Python is also incredible and really helps with learning, troubleshooting or trying to write code, I highly recommend joining the free Adafruit discord for anyone using any type of microcontroller!
