“This is the second (...and third) of these wonderful little Real time clocks I have purchased from the PI Hut. The first one was used in a a project I put together to record the presence of Pine Martens in a local woodland - or more importantly to record the RFID tags implanted into a number of re-introduced Pine Martens (and or Red Squirrels). Each time an animal accessed the purpose built feeder, the Time, Date and RFID tag number would be recorded onto a Micro SD card. It was essential that both the Time and Dates recorded were accurate so that the times could be matched with camera trap footage. After a couple of failed attempts with some less expensive RTC modules - I stumbled upon the DS3231 Precision RTC and I am so happy that I did. The full system was tested out over a 12 month period in a range of weather types including snow, ice, rain and sun and the RTC remained spot on with its accuracy. I really couldn't be happier with both the quality of this miniature RTC and the PI Hut for the very speedy and reliable delivery.”
