“This is a great product, but is 95% of what I needed, just be aware I will have to modify the case, becase the NMVe hat I have Will get in the way of the case fully closing, so the Dremmel will be comming out, nonetheless, I would still recommend the product, just make sure the any HATS you have will be compatible”
“Well made and relatively easy to assemble - the ribbon cables are a bit fiddly, especially if you have a hat (I have the M2 hat), but aren't they always. As others have pointed out, the camera installs upside down which would be a pain if you don't know how to fix this, hence 4 stars rather than 5. Quite a bit of misinformation on searches about this. To fix it amend /boot/firmware/config.txt as follows:
camera_auto_detect=0
Add the following line below:
dtoverlay=imx708,cam(n),rotation=0
This turns off autodetect and adds the camera with the rotation param (which, weirdly, defaults to 180). Replace the imx number with your camera model - I've got the 3 so it's imx708 - and (n) to 0 or 1 depending where your camera is connected. Hope that helps people!”
“Recommended, its a very cool Pi case. Very happy with it.
But I have some minor criticisms described below.
I use it with a pi5, a NVME board and an audio board, it's configured as PiCorePlayer (music player/streamer) and works really well for that.
If using Hat boards I recommed buying some M2.5 M/F standoffs (metal or plastic).
Good points:
- It feels strong, stable and good quality (chunky plastic, with metal base)
- Well designed to support various needs
- Looks nice, and fun to build
- Plenty of space inside
- There is a sd card extension slot accessible on the top if you need to swap sd cards.
- The USB and ethernet sockets are accessible on the side.
- Power button on the side which actuates the Pi 5 built in power button.
Room for improvement:
- The large version has enough height behind the pi for 2 stacked hats, but not enough width. The angle of the side of the back part of the enclosure means you probably wont get full pi sized hat boards to fit if they are mounted directly onto the pi. My audio board fits fine, which has a smaller footprint than the pi (doesnt extend over the USB and ethernet connectors). But my NVMe Base card (same size as the pi) wouldnt fit. So I mounted it elsewhere in the enclosure using M2.5 standoffs and used hot glue to fix the standoffs in place. Im happy with that, but for some boards and connectors/cables that might not be possible.
- The instructions are detailed but slightly confusing. I recommend reading it all a couple of times before starting assembly.
- The power button on the side is small and flush, so it sometimes takes me a few seconds to find with touch alone. Im considering putting a sticker on it, so I can see/feel it quickly.
- The provided USBc extension cable doesnt work, no power gets through. I don't need it so I don't care.
- Access underneath for the power and HDMI cables is awkward. I dont ever need to unplug it so I don't care, but could be an issue for some users.
Despite my criticisms I really like this, it's just what I needed! Very happy with it.”
“Perfect case for my RPi project. Love the multiple position options to attach the RPi to the case usually you have only one option. I like to position the RPi on the Left and add panel mount connectors so that you don't have cables coming out the side of the screen.”
“Very impressed with this case, was able to add some external sensors to my project without any difficulty by adapting the back which can be cut off to access the pi inside.”
