“Small unit wired into a back box and did exactly what I wanted.
Bought a retractive switch so lights it is connected to can still be powered on and off.
But at the same time the Shelly can manage the lights. Just need to add it to home assistant next to finalise the automation side of things.”
“Compact and does the job! Perfect addition to recent rewiring project to make a lighting circuit of 12 downlights smart, cheaper than buying 12 smart bulbs and it's always available (unlike smart bulbs that you can't control when the light switch is off).”
“These Gen4 Shellys are a super neat bit of kit that can be powered over 12V DC as well as 230V AC. Great to have products from a more robust company than many of the alphabet-spaghetti brands. Plus you can buy them from Pi Hut instead of the Amazon machine!
I have Aqara relays elsewhere but they are 230V AC only. I wanted it for some low-voltage outdoor lights, so I have it the other side of a transformer with some strings on the other side.
Paired to Zigbee2Mqtt immediately. Pretty simple (on/off, LQI) but that's all I needed so I can stick them on a smart timer + motion.”
