“This does exactly as you would expect, low-cost and easy to install. Recommended.
The pi is not under heavy workload and the temperature stays steady in the high 50s (c), occassionally peaking into the low 60s. It might run hotter in the summer I guess, will find out soon. I think that is fine for a compact passive cooler. It doesn't have much air flow, so I would expect it to perform even better in more optimal configurations.”
“For anyone thinking of putting this cooler in the official rp5 case for a bit more thermal mass than the provided heatsink, it *does* fit with the case fan insert and functions well, but it clearly wasn't designed to. Outside of this usage, it is perfect.
Fit this cooler in the normal way and put the pi into the lower half of the case. Fit the fan insert into the case top and plug the fan into the pi. When snapping the case top onto the case bottom, give it a little wiggle along the long axis to make sure that the clear plastic fan retention clips slot in-between the black fins of the low profile cooler, then snap it closed fully. The low profile cooler will get bumped side to side along the long axis of the pi a little when the fan clips slide into the gaps.
This product could be improved by machining out the fins in this area to give the fan clips some clearance. That said, it does work without modification if you install it carefully.”
