“This is an excellent case to complement the AgonLight2. It's sturdy, robust and quite attractive. It's made out of two pieces of bent metal that hook together and use a single screw to close. Separate black feet are included, which push into holes and then remain securely in place. The Agon board is screwed into the case very securely by means of four pillars and eight screws. Overall, the case does the job extremely well and is excellent value for money. The board is well protected and the case looks understated.
To be critical, though, there are some small ways in which it might have been improved:
1. I wish the screws (certainly the fixing screw on the top, and perhaps the four external ones that attach the board to the bottom of the case) had been coloured black or dark grey, rather than being left silver. The contrast with the dark grey of the case makes it look a little unfinished.
2. Once the board is in the case, the fit of the top lid isn't quite a perfect match. Although it's only a fraction of a millimetre out, it still means that the lid doesn't close as perfectly as it did when the case was empty, and it's necessary to push the front wall of the unit backwards slightly in order to be able to insert the single screw that fixes the two halves together. And there's a tiny gap at the back where the ports and circuit board meet the back of the case.
3. The little holes for the speaker aren't perfectly centred on its position on the motherboard.
4. It's impossible to see the status LEDs on the board once it's inside the case. It would have been ideal if a couple of light pipes had been included.
Whether this metal case is preferable to the 3D-printed case options that are available is entirely a matter of personal choice, but certainly, the metal case is very affordable and does a nice job of creating a well-protected and robust unit.
Highly recommended overall, despite very minor shortcomings.”
