“Decided to stop using the Tuya home clunky app for my small home automations and remove any dependency on external cloud services.
So I installed Home Assistant on a Pi 4b and plugged in this little device.
I was dubious at first because it looked so small - but it is fantastic!
Home assistant integration is superb, as well it should be seeing that skyconnect is a Nabu Casa device (the developers of Home Assistant)
The blurb says it will be Matter compatible - I use zigbee 3.0 devices for now and I am not sure that this future feature is relevant to my situation.
Note - this device already comes with the USB extension cable in the pack - so don't be like me and buy a, totally unnecessary, separate one.
If you want to take control of your home automations with Home Assistant and have a spare raspberry Pi hanging around - then I think it is worth considering this skyconnect USB dongle.
My zigbee hub is now redundant :-(”
