“Had a problem with CR2032 batteries not staying put in the battery holder, they just pop out if I tap the board. Tried a CR2025, which is thinner, and this clips in securely.”
“Seems to be an excellent quality product, with useful package of software to use with it too.
Note: It comes with a pair of wires terminated in a XH2.54 connector, so no need to also order the linked wire package.”
“For many years I've been using Hamish Cunningham's MoPi 2 product to power Raspberry Pi's from a second-hand car battery: https://pi.gate.ac.uk/pages/mopi.html
Unfortunately, this product is no longer supported on Bullseye and beyond, thus preventing the use of the new Raspberry Pi cameras with libcamera.
The Witty Pi 4 product is an excellent replacement for MoPi 2, is well-supported by UUGEAR, and can do everything the MoPi could, but with the added advantage of a real-time clock.
I'm now using several Witty Pi 4s for night-time surveillance of wildlife, remote from mains power.
A 60Ah car battery powers the Witty Pi 4, Pi Zero 2W, camera, PIR, and infra-red LED array for around one month when timed to switch on during night-time hours only.
As ever, PiHut's excellent service continues to deliver products within a day or so of placing the order.”
