“I was looking for a new micro-SD card reader for my 3D printer and as soon I saw this one that has the SD go INSIDE the usb I knew I had to have it so I bought 2.
My plan was to disassemble one and 3D print a new housing for it to make it even smaller and have another as a backup in case that didn't work. My 3D print worked to great success and now I have an awesome tiny micro-SD card reader that can double up as a tiny flash drive if I leave an sd card in it (which in theory could be up to 1Tb which would be absolutely incredible!).
However... the second one I ordered appeared to have an assembly fault which rendered it useless as the pcb did line up correctly inside the usb. As I had the first one I disassembled it in the hope I could fix the issue which worked somewhat, but afterwards it refused to work and scratched up my sd card. As I can't say for certain that I didn't damage it myself by dis-assembling it I felt it would be unfair to return it.
The one that I modified has had some intermittent issues as it occasionally takes a while to show up on the computer after plugging it in or even comes up with an error, but again this could be my fault as I have re-assembled it multiple times.
The build quality is surprisingly good as parts of the (original) housing are made of metal which I didn't expect. If it wasn't for the issues with the second one I would give this a 4.5/5.”
