“Functionally great and solid build quality... once built correctly. I'm not going to drop them a star for a few minor issues but I will point them out here to help others and in the hope this info will be passed on.
1. The Dac is supplied with M2.5x12mm M-F Nylon Standoffs, these are fine but personally I prefer metal. 11mm would also work but I actually like the fact the HAT is plugged in far enough and held securly in place with a small gap the allows the HAT to be removed a little easier if needed. This keeps the GPIO pins safe from ham fisted people like myself.
2. The Case was unfortunatly out of stock from the Pi Hut so I purhcased it direct from HiFiBerry. It was supplied with M2.5x30mm F-F Brass Standoffs. This baffled me, the remaining gap is 28mm so they don't fit. Also, to be of any use they need to be M-F so you can screw them into the standoffs supplied with the DAC. Unfortunatly the Pi Hut don't sell 28mm standoffs and using my other supplier I had to combine 11mm and 17mm to get the correct size. I do wonder if this issue was becuase I went direct and not via the PiHut because other reviews havn't mentioned this but I did set up stock notification and the steel XLR case has been out of stock for months.
3. This isn't HiFiBerry's fault as I'm not using it as intended but... I wanted to fix this into the back of the official Raspberry Pi touch screen. If you're also doing this, be prepaired to drill a few mounting holes and cut a slot for the ribbon cable.
4. If running Volumio, This DAC isn't on the drop down list. Don't worry though, a quick Google and you'll find if you select "HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro" then this DAC2 Pro will work just fine.”
“I absolutely love this product!
I got my hands on a pair of Studio monitors and use this to wirelessly play my music. Simple setup with HifiBerryOS and works flawlessly.
It still puts a smile on my face when I use it.”
