“This is not pointed out on the PiHut description but it is clearly stated on the Adafruit site. The version 1 cameras have a different focus ring and cannot be adjusted with this tool. The tool appears to be well made but I have deducted 2 stars because of the missing details in the PiHut description which rendered it useless, at least until I need to buy another camera :-)”
