“This solved the problem, I had a USB 3 SSD case that seemed to work OK with Windows and MAC OS, but would my PI4 would not boot from the drive. Bought this cable and problem was solved, Thanks Pi HUT good advice and five-star service.”
“I purchased this product because I already knew I wanted to use a SATA SSD over the more conventional MicroSD due to the increased performance the SATA SSD offered, and since it was only a few quid for the adaptor and I already had a SATA SSD (a WD Green 120GB) it made sense to include it in my purchase rather than trying to save a few pennies buying elsewhere and more time if I'd had to return it. I followed some online instructions to update the RPi4 firmware using the conventional MicroSD install, then swapped over to the SATA SSD and have been using it ever since. There is without a doubt a noticeable speed increase in using the SATA SSD over the conventional MicroSD and I'd recommend the purchase to anyone who has both a RPi that is both suitable and who wants better performance (eg server/desktop etc). I can't say what RPi's would benefit. Stick with MicroSD if you're only doing a small portable project, but for a server or as a desktop system the SATA SSD is the way forward!”
“In the setup i wanted the cable is a bit short to reach but that's not a fault of the product. I have only tested to usb speed. Works on my toshiba hdd.”
