“I recently picked up the Pi Hut Soil Moisture Sensor Kit and it’s quickly become one of my favourite little tools for my electronics project.
Straight out of the box, everything felt well put together and approachable. The included components are neatly presented, and setup was surprisingly straightforward. What I really like is how versatile the sensor is. You can use it as a simple indicator to tell when your plant needs watering, or integrate it into a larger project with a Raspberry Pi like I did as a Water Leak Detector for my home.
I built this after an escape of water left me with costly repairs, and it gave consistent, reliable readings that has helped me avoid future issues.
Another highlight of this is how educational it is. It’s a great introduction to working with sensors and understanding how environmental data can be measured and used. For anyone interested in learning more about coding or electronics, this kit is a fun and practical entry point.”
“Works ok, easy to set up with an Arduino uno and seems resonably accurate, the sensor itself is quite flimsy so you will have to take care when inserting into soil etc, not sure how long it will last, but for the price is not bad value.”
“I ordered 2 Soil Moisture Sensor kits to monitor plants. After some days in the soil, the conductive layer on the first probe was gone.
I have used the 2nd sensor for a whlle now and it is still working. Hopefully just a production error.
Apart from that - a good product.”
