“Used this as a part of an arduino based greenhouse project for University. I used it to measure how the wet the soil is, expressing the moisture level as a percentage. It worked pretty well and I was able to use it to turn a water pump on when the level dropped below a certain percentage and turn the motor off after rising above another set percentage. As always, the Pi Hut provided an excellent delivery service. Thanks”

“I bought this capacitive soil moisture sensor for a small smart-plant project I’m building with ESPHome and an ESP32, powered from a 18650 battery. After testing a few different sensors before, this one has actually been the most reliable so far. The readings are nice and stable and it reacts quickly when the soil is watered or starts to dry. I calibrated it in ESPHome and now it reports the moisture level to Home Assistant, so I can easily see when my plants need watering. It’s exactly what I needed for a simple battery-powered plant monitor that wakes up, takes a reading and sends the value over Wi-Fi. Another big advantage is that it’s capacitive rather than the cheap resistive probes I used before. Those always ended up corroding in the soil after a while, but this design should last much longer. Overall I’m really happy with it. For anyone building a DIY plant monitor or Home Assistant project, this sensor is a great little component and does the job perfectly.”

“I have been using this sensor in my automatic plant watering system for around a week now. Works well and is responsive. Took some time to calibrate correctly but now works well. Works perfect with my Pi Pico 2W and is simple to get a reading out of!”

“Sensor appears to work well but there is no data sheet link so no reference data giving expected output voltage ranges for Dry, Moist, Wet with respect to supply voltage.”

“Great easy to use moisture sensor. From what I can tell so far should last longer than the two prong versions. I’ve got it hooked up to one of the ADC pins on a pico as part of a simple pot plant auto watering system.”

“Arrived on time, as always excellent service from the pi hut. Sensor works really well and reacts quickly. Looking to add as part of a home monitoring capability for some house plants. Kids loved this product and helped create the test circuit this evening. Had the sensor read out every second and by introducing water from the bottom, the sensor reacted nicely.”
