“Delivery was fast (about a week to western USA). Robot went together following the directions without any issues. Runs perfectly. What else can I say?
Building the kit is better done by older kids or adults, but once built, programming is easy for much younger kids, even to 4th grade. This will definitely fill the niche for those teachers/parents wanting a robot kit to entice their kids into playing with the Raspberry Pi. The building and programming worksheets are extremely well written: more well-known kit manufacturers should take notice.”
“This is such fun to build and play with. Great introduction to robotics that works really well. If you tried the earlier kits (or have done basic electronics) you can add all sorts of fun things, like flashing LEDs, alarm sounds, additional sensors etc. It is much easier to use than an arduino kit I got from RadioShack - just get up a putty session and play to your heart's content.
At the price it is phenomenally good value and is a great little package. Some minor quibbles:
1. The box is OK as a frame, I used spare stuff from my RadioShack kit which is like meccano to make a robust chassis.
2. Breadboard is a little small if you want to extend the project, but easy enough to get another
3. Those 330R resistors are not so easy to get hold off, could have done with some more as they are useful with the Pi power supply
4. I used a USB charger for power, nothing comes to power your Pi and you don't really want to have a cable
5. No documentation in kit
6. Pain recoding all the code, although probably good practice - you can cut and paste into nano, sort of”
“The kit is very nice and come with clear online instructions. Very good cheap kit for beginners. The wheel-ball doesn't work very well, but you can easily replace with a simple rotating one.”
