As a retired biomass boiler engineer, and having worked on a pellet production site, I can say with some confidence that these briquettes are, in my opinion, an excellent product. The packaging is quite robust for delivery, though the individual film wrappers are not watertight, or even moisture proof. This means that long term storage required some thought to exclude moisture ingress - the arch enemy of pressed wood fuels. Having said that, I've found that with careful storage they are really quite resilient. This is now the fourth pallet I've purchased and I've been very impressed with each batch. The press forms compacted discs of about 12mm, and you can clearly see these bands, which quite handily allow the logs to be broken into shorter lengths to fit your burner. They do expand considerably lengthwise, so take care not to cram loads into the burner. This helps breaking off smaller amounts (1 or 2 discs) to help rapid ignition, which it really does take off easily. They burn hot and clean, and I never need to clean the glass, because any soot deposited early in the fire is burned off shortly afterwards. The ash is clean and fine These logs are messier than virgin wood logs because of the 'crumbs' they leave behind, but easily vacuumed or swept up and chucked onto the fire. Our nominal 4.5kW burner in our small bungalow uses perhaps 3 to 5 logs over 5 to 6 hours in the evening, and bulk buy of 1 pallet means we have plenty at our disposal. It also helps keep the central heating off so we are well in credit. All told, I'm very pleased I found these logs.

These briquettes are great hot burn. Only downside is they are a little crumbly, this is mentioned in the description though.

I received a pallet of briquettes which when opened turned to sawdust. The briquettes in each packet are only being held in shape by the plastic wrapper. When opened everything collapses and you only get a pile of sawdust with a few bits of briquettes. Of course this is not fuel and is not what I paid. I suspect these briquettes are seconds from bigger companies who choose not to sell them direct to the public. But as I have found this companies customer service to range from hostile to passive aggressive I am not going to pursue them through the small claims court as I should but will simply aviod them in the future and warn as many people as I can about their service. By the way, if they take your order when you pay for it and subsequently their delivery company (Pallet Force) decide they can't get their huge articulated lorry to unload your order. LuxuryWood will cancel your order with a £80 penalty to you. Apparantly they expect you to read ALL the buried terms of conditions before you place an order. Even then you will be caught out by not knowing the width of the road outside your house or even the degree of bend of the street leading to your street. PalletForce is geared for deliveries to and from industrial premises not ordinary homes. So you will fall foul of these buried conditions - and then pay £80 for THEIR cancellation of your order. Their business model stinks. Use them at your peril.

Excellent briquettes. They burn v hot and clean. In our rayburn they took it up to above roast in about 20 mins. Fantastic to use for cooking. Only downside was the slightly reckless driving on delivery. Hightly recommend.

Better than my first impressions. These are seriously messy, bordering on unstable. Not helped by the palette collapsing and jamming on the truck lift during delivery and having to be double handled into storage. Indoors there is a lot of sawdust to contend with on unwrapping and some logs and even packs effectively disintegrate. Generally the logs cannot be picked up whole, but will come apart, scattering sawdust wherever you handle them. Once in the stove (a Clearview 650 ) they light easily-there's no shortage of kindling from broken log bits - and some burn better than others -when they're good they're very good- two logs burning strongly a good hour and building a hot ember bank that can be fed a log an hour. The surprise is they produce a lot of ash, easily double what I'm used to from other briquettes. I've also notice with some packs the heat output is way down. So a bit of a mixed bag, really.
