“I've been using Sonarworks since 2019. Reference 4 helped me mix my 2020 album 'Getting Sober For The End of the World' in my almost untreated bedroom. The album went on to hit the NZ charts and was nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2021 Aotearoa(New Zealand) Music Awards.
I've since upgraded to SOund ID and I love it. With my trusty old Dynaudio monitors or any of my headphones I can now trust what I'm hearing and my mixes translate.”
“My listening room has terrible acoustics and I find that SoundID improves the sound drastically. It was extremely muddy before, but crystal clear now. I highly recommend it as simple and effective room correction.”
“I recently upgraded from Sonarworks 4 to Reference ID, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The new features have exceeded my expectations and made my workflow much smoother and more enjoyable.
One of the standout additions is the device emulation feature. It's incredibly useful to hear how my mixes will sound on various devices, ensuring they translate well across different listening environments. This capability alone has significantly improved my mixing and mastering process.
The new interface is also a major highlight. It's sleek, intuitive, and user-friendly, making navigation a breeze. The improvements in design have not only enhanced the visual appeal but also the overall usability of the software.
Working with Reference ID has been a delight. The precision and accuracy it offers in room correction are unparalleled, and these new features have only added to its value. I am extremely satisfied with this upgrade and highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their audio production experience.”
Hello Sandi,
Thank you for reaching out!
SoundID Reference is the successor of Reference 4. In addition to the base functionality, it does offer more features as requested by the Reference 4 user base. You can learn more here: https://www.sonarworks.com/blog/product-news/should-i-upgrade-from-sonarworks-reference-4-to-soundid-reference
I hope this helps!
“It's just sad that I had to upgrade because my system wasn't running 4 studio anymore. That's frustrating, but the features of SoundID References are an improvement of the previous iterations.”
Hello,
Thank you for the review!
Yes, due to the fact that Reference 4 has been discontinued and all development efforts are put into its successor - SoundID Reference - we are unable to keep the support for the upcoming OS updates. I hope this makes sense.
However, the upgrade is worthy as it offers most requested features and basic functionality of Reference 4.
I hope this helps!
