“I only upgraded as I couldn't use the Reference 4 plugin in Pro Tools. However, I think if you don't need this there isn't really any benefit to upgrading, there's no real difference in the software and there is a lot more issues with it.”
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
SoundID Reference is the successor of Reference 4 and offers more functionality and customization options than the previous Reference 4 software.
In addition, if you are using a later M-Series macOS computer, then the SoundID Reference will be compatible with native mode. Reference 4 will not be compatible and the Rosetta environment will be required.
I hope this helps!
“The virtual monitoring doesnt work quite well. As soon as you turn it on then the quality of the sound its not fear. I cant trust my mixes using it.
As I see, having a virtual environment its needed because of the binaural mix, but it need to mantain some how the linear character, and this doesnt do it.
Otherhand it could be nice to vinculate it to a camera to track the head movement, and also hace any way to archieve each own HRTF curve.
Hope you work with this, b”
Hello,
Thank you for the review!
The linear character should remain if the flat target mode has been selected. However, you can notice the frequency shift in the spectrum when using either the Custom target mode by editing the curve to your liking, translation check, or the Dolby Atmos curve.
I hope this helps!
“Sonarworks Reference ID is an excellent tool for mixing and referencing audio. I've used it since version 3 and thoroughly enjoy some of the new adjustments possible in the latest version.”
“I‘m so happy with the upgrade to SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones.
This revolutionary application was a game changer for me and it‘s always on in the insert section of Cubase‘s Control Room. I can only recommend it!”
