“I am new to using Sonarworks, the SoundID upgrade is useful with profiles to test what a mix would sound like played back on a laptop, smartphone etc... Easy to flick between once you set up profiles and importantly a list of profiles for headphones. (I made some very inexpensive headphones quite usable)”
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
You can upgrade from your existing Educational license to a multichannel license via your user account: www.sonarworks.com/account/login
The valid upgrade would be from SoundID Reference Speakers and Headphones to Multichannel available at our store here:
https://store.sonarworks.com/products/upgrade-from-soundid-reference-for-speakers-and-headphones-to-soundid-reference-for-multichannel-download-only
Keep in mind that the sale will end quite soon.
I hope this helps!

“I like all the new options to model different reference speakers. That was something I appreciated in earlier versions that got removed. I'm glad to see them back and expanded.”
“I only upgraded as I couldn't use the Reference 4 plugin in Pro Tools. However, I think if you don't need this there isn't really any benefit to upgrading, there's no real difference in the software and there is a lot more issues with it.”
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
SoundID Reference is the successor of Reference 4 and offers more functionality and customization options than the previous Reference 4 software.
In addition, if you are using a later M-Series macOS computer, then the SoundID Reference will be compatible with native mode. Reference 4 will not be compatible and the Rosetta environment will be required.
I hope this helps!
