I bought 'SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones' because I really wanted to use 5-inch speakers, even in my very cramped room. Before this, I barely used them because the low-end was just too overwhelming, leaving them to pretty much gather dust. However, after using SoundID Reference, the playback resolution completely changed. I used to think the bass was just a minor distraction, but after calibration, I realized it had been masking all the other frequencies. I was highly skeptical about whether this would actually work in such a small space(3m*3m*3m), but the results are incredibly satisfying.

The SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones setup process, especially for measuring with the included XREF microphone, is very easy. By offering more measuring points than other competitors with similar products do, I've also got the impression that the final results are more accurate than with other approaches. The options to allow manual tweaks are very helpful, so everything can be tailored to one's own taste and needs.

I purchased the complete SoundID ecosystem, including SoundID Reference, Virtual Monitoring, Apollo Monitor Correction, the calibration microphone, and calibration for both my studio monitors and headphones. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. After calibrating my room and setting everything up, my monitoring became noticeably more accurate and reliable. It’s now much easier to make confident mixing and mastering decisions, and my mixes translate far better across different playback systems. The headphone calibration has also been a huge benefit, allowing me to work confidently even when I’m away from my studio. Apollo Monitor Correction integrates seamlessly into my workflow. Having monitor correction handled directly through Apollo means I don’t need to insert correction plugins into every project, making the entire process clean, transparent, and distraction-free. I also really appreciate Virtual Monitoring. Being able to instantly check how my mixes translate across different listening environments is an invaluable feature during the final stages of production. It gives me much greater confidence before releasing a track. The calibration microphone was easy to use, and the entire measurement and setup process was straightforward and well-designed. In the end, I now have a complete monitoring ecosystem that I can truly trust. A big thank you to the Sonarworks team for creating such an outstanding product. This isn’t a tool that makes your mixes sound “better” - it helps you hear them more accurately, which is exactly what every engineer needs. I can wholeheartedly recommend this complete solution to anyone serious about recording, mixing, or mastering.

SoundID Reference has been a real breakthrough for me. My room is partially treated, and due to an unusual niche, I was struggling with uneven low-frequency response. SoundID not only pinpointed the problem but also fixed it. My speakers began to sound completely different and more even. I plan to move to a better-adapted room soon, and I'm sure SoundID will be helpful there too. Wondering why I waited so long to buy SoundID, I recommend it to everyone!

reference is expensive but worth it, even or especially as just a music listener with a badly treated room and unideal speaker positioning

Great stuff. Makes a big difference when you have a studio/working envirement that is not acoustically treated.
