Sound ID Reference is a game changer for me as I have always found it difficult to do the final mix-down of my tracks.

I like it a lot! I have got the headphones only version, because I mix at home and I don’t want to chance my entire room just for the sound purpose. I especially like the presets like “NS10s” because then you can mix without the focus on the low end. What I would like to see is something like an auto bypass in case of bouncing. It happens once in a while that I bounce with sonar works still on and… yeah… you can do it again. Don’t know if such a thing is technically possible? If not my small “close sonarworks” tpiece of paper has to be enough. All in all great product!

I am not a professional working in the audio realm. I’m a 40 yo guy who is ABSOLUTELY passionate about Sound. I first worked with Sonarworks a few years back and was blown away by the ability I had to hear what a ruler flat frequency range really sounded like while restoring live recordings. Working with Sonarworks allows me to take decisions I would not be able to take without using the software. I am really able to hear where the audio needs to be corrected and it even improved my listening skills because of the hours spent doing A/B (with/without) comparisons. Using Sonarworks is for example crucial when I want to restore old mixes I did using mp3s and that I tried to fix using eqs ! Now, I can hear where the eq has been applied, restore the lost frequencies and by using other analysis tools under Wavelab get a really astonishing sound. In few words, Sonarworks is an absolute must have for everyone that want to work with audio, even on a non professional (but yet skilled ^^) level.

This software solved my fighting with sound issues of my home studio and small natural imperfections of my headphones - now I can mix with them and rely on the sound they deliver.

I currently use M50x for work, and I've always felt it sounds too harsh.SoundID Reference solves this problem and it not sounds unnatural. It also can adjust EQ according to the user's listening habits.I don't know if there is any other software that has the same functionality, but I think Sound ID Reference does a great job!

Although this software is primarily aimed at audio engineers I have been using it to EQ my DT 990s to make them less fatiguing. My favourite feature of this software is the ability to choose a target percentage of the neutral frequency response set by Sonarworks. This allows me to keep much of the sonic characteristics of my particular headphones while taming the treble, flattening the mids and enhancing the sub-bass response. It has also allowed me to assess the different sonic characteristics of microphones more objectively by setting a 100% flat target, recording the mic in question and listening back. Cheers, John
