“I bought the rpi5 with 8 GB of ram and am doing very well. Much faster than version 4. I also got the heatsink with fan because it actually heats up a bit more than the previous versions.Nice the possibility of coupling an nvme ssd with the appropriate base. I am very satisfied.”
“This is a great product. It is an inexpensive computer that can be used for a very broad range of purposes. In my case I bought it to be a dedicated computer for use on digital ham radio modes. It will connect to a radio and be used to encode and decode messages. This will allow me to use my primary computer on other radios.”
“This review is less for the pi than for the pimoroni support team.
Received board just before Christmas but sadly cooler was not working.
Hayley contacted me in the new year and arranged a free return and fix service, and no everything is working well. Big thank you for the support!”
“It's a Raspberry Pi. You know what it is. You want it.
Compared to the previous ones, it has even worse connectors: Now you need new cables for the camera, and a more powerful power source unit. Forget about using it with something you have.
You still need those horrid HDMI adapters.
Now, you can connect a NVME to it, via a special adapter by using a hat. There are many options. You want it, too. It's 2024, this is not a 25$ toy anymore, you don't want some SD card from your old phone.
In fact, given the price and speed of this machine, it makes no sense to have an SD card and not some NVME slot by default. The NVME adapters also use a new cable. The connectors for all cables are similar to the ones of the old Raspberry Pi Zero, so they break easily. And the replacement of them is unfairly expensive.
You also want an active cooler, now. That sucks, but the official one is amazing and rarely runs.
That said, this thing is amazing. It is FAST. It's the best Raspberry Pi ever.”
