“There are some covers I never use and I'm getting quite a collection of them. It would be great to either opt-in for the covers required or, even better, opt-out of the ones I've already got too many of. Save the planet, one PiZero case cover at a time!”
“I have a few different Zero cases, and they are all generally a bit of a fiddle and limited in their protection, its all or next to nothing.
That is not a problem for the official case, its really nicely made, your Zero (W) clips in securely and the various lids means you can tailor it to your needs (Desktop, GPIO access or Spy cam).
Cheap at ВЈ6”
“Very well made case, easy to assemble, Pi Zero 1.2 fits quite nicely. Sturdy enough to keep everything protected. Might not be the best choice for you if you require an SD card cutout. If you need HDMI output, using this case may require having to cut a bit through the plastic on the HDMI adapter that comes with Pi Zero bundles.”
“I used my Pi Zeros without a case until this one came along, the different lids make it extremely versatile. I use one with the camera, one with the header opening and one with the solid surface.
Easy to access the pi if necessary and sturdy. It's now the standard issue with every Pi Zero I buy.”
“This case is nice to look at and is reasonably strong (its already protected my Zero W from a couple of accidental falls) but it seems to me that, other than perhaps the camera lid, this case isn't built to house completed projects. There is little room inside, so if your Pi already has headers and you want to use the camera lid you'll need to desolder them beforehand (I also dry-fit a Zero LiPo in and not even that will fit). Also, and this was the only genuine problem I had, I couldn't fit the mini HDMI adapter in through the case as the male plug was marginally too short to go through the thick case and connect to the Pi, so I spent a good amount of time wondering if the pi was broken (I used the adapter that Pimoroni supplies when you order, so other adapters may vary). All-in-all I think this is a nifty little case to keep your pi safe on a desk or in a school bag, but it would seem its not intended to hold much more than the Pi with headers OR camera.”
“Three lids thats what sold it for me. But the best lid was the camera one as i was able to make a wedding twitter cam and have it all enclosed in a case. Certainly would buy again.”
“It's a great little case with a nice variety of covers, rubber feat and a short CSI camera cable for the small Pi Zero camera connector. I am currently using it with the camera cover and the Pi Zero W as a motion detecting surveillance camera. It fits nicely into the Manfrotto smartphone tripod adapter MCLAMP (probably into the generic ones too), to mount it on any tripod/photo equipment with 1/4" screw. An angled micro usb cable could be beneficial in this case to .
I don't think that heat will be much of a problem with this case. I measured the Pi Zero W at an average power consumption < 1 Watt (around 150mA, peaking at 200mA under full load). After running motion (http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion) with some ftp uploading and mail sending for several hours, CPU/GPU temperature leveled at ~53В°C (ambient temperature 23В°C), w/o heat-sink. The case gets only slightly warm.”
