“Versatile & very capable for the price. It's a proper computer for £12! Have used mine with Raspbian, RISC OS Pi and (most recently) OSMC, all with very good results. The RISC OS distribution will probably be the quickest for 'traditional' computing tasks like word processing and learning programming (in good old BBC BASIC) - provided you don't need networking, as RISC OS is incapable of connecting to the internet via WiFi.
This is my fourth Zero W since 2016 - the previous three all gave up after varying lifespans, either not recognising an SD card or getting very hot as soon as I apply power. They were all quite heavily used though (one wedged inside an old Amstrad NC100!) so I can't really knock a star off for that.
Recommended as a cheap device for a project or even as a serious computer for light, everyday tasks. For more heavy-duty tasks (especially if you're planning to use a full-featured modern web browser e.g. Chromium/Firefox) I would recommend a more powerful Pi.”
“Amazing piece of kit for the price, this is the second one I bought from Pimoroni for use with my retro amiga computers. Also first class service from Pimoroni hard to beat this kind of purchase.”
“Fantastic processing power in a board the size of a bit of chewing gum.
If you know some Linux and want to make an IOT device this is the easy way to go.
I use to to give WiFi control to my car charger.”
“The Raspberry pi zero is a powerful tool in a very small and efficient form factor. It's perfect for my IOT projects.
Power consumption is very good and with a few tweaks can really last a long time on battery.”
