Excellent for its capabilities, however the SSDs are higher than the regular NVMe Base, so addiing heatsinks to SSDs is problematic with the reguler pcie ribbon, also it doesn't fit in the new NVMe case. Also the power on leds are very bright and don't seem to be controlled via /sys/class/leds/ This review seems negative, but it is truly a very good piece of hardware that does very well what it has been designed for!

A brilliant base for setting up a RAID 0 or RAID 1 with my Raspberry Pi 5. Also, I’d like to mention that I’m from Spain and I give Pimoroni a 10 out of 10 for the hassle-free delivery to my home and the support they have given me.

Thanks to this little device, my Pi 5 is now working as a NextCloud server. Being able to use separate NVMe drives for system and data is reassuring. I can now update the system drive without any fears of meddling with the data. Construction is simple and instructions on the web site very clear (be aware the tiny nuts are very small). I prefer this design over the original single slot variant as I found the ribbon to be slightly easier to fit. I will need a new case as the height has changed since I used my single slot base board, but I need something more sound proof anyway (nextcloud memories indexing photos makes the fan really spin).

A couple of reason I went for this instead of one of the single NVMe bases: 1) As a switch sits between the PI and the NVMe there seems to be a wider range of NVMe's that work correctly. As I've some of the NVMe's marked as 'problematic', this seemed a good idea. (Lexar NM620 working fine, not had chance to try some of the WD ones) 2) For a little more, I've the flexibility of expanding in the future without chucking the NVMe's currently in use) As it's switched, there will be a performance hit when using two, but for one I'd expect little overhead and it's fast enough for me.
