“Really cool piece of kit! Great audio quality, nice sharp little screen, and easy to install – even a complete coding novice like me could set it up in one go, thanks to the clear and detailed instructions. I use it all the time – even right now! I'd also recommend getting a case for it to sit on, as otherwise the Zero W is exposed.”
“Overall I like the Pirate Audio board but it wasn't so straightforward to set up, definitely not for a beginner. The directions are in places incorrect, versions have changed, e.g., there is currently no all-in-one install script, and you'll do a bit of research to get things going.
That said, once it is it all works quite well. I've still got some issue with my authentication on Spotify Premium but the Mopidy server works very well. I'm not sure I'll ever actually use that little screen to navigate my MP3 library, but for those whose application is different it's an attractive package.”
“This is a great little package. Sound quality is surprisingly good for what it is. Build quality excellent. Installation very easy as per instructions to get it working. I’m learning a lot trying to get the screen to do different things outside of the instructions. It’s good value, I’m very pleased”
“What a fantastic Spotify client the Pirate Audio is. Only takes a jiffy to set up and your playlists and artists are there in iris to see.
I chose the Line out version to use with some edifies powered speaks and the sound quality is more than acceptable.
When a dedicated sound card for a raspberry pi can cost more than 30 pounds, what’s not to like about a sound card that’s bundled with 4 buttons and a colour screen in a mini hat format for under 20 pounds !”
“I have followed the instructions (verbatim) and it is a big mess.
Balena etcher fails, old etcher saved the day
installation is OK
"sudo mopidyctl local scan" fails miserably
there is an issue with long file names; and even short ones
unsatisfied...”
