“Very surprised by the quality of this product. Most difficult part of the build was attaching the control panel (task not suited for big hands). Screen is excellent and bright. So happy with the finished product that I'm considering buying another one!”
“The whole experience was delightful. Shipping was fast despite being outside of the UK and I received frequent updates on the status. The packaging is outstanding, the components are divided in several colourful boxes neatly arranged in the main container and clearly labeled, the unboxing experience is comparable to Apple's but more cheerful. The included stickers and pin were a nice bonus.
Assembling the Picade was easy enough, although I couldn't have done with the instructions alone and had to resort to the videos. I don't recommend following the exact order given in the instructions which make you put everything together and then try the software - if you realise that you wired something incorrectly at that point you'll have to disassemble the parts which is a bit cumbersome.
Once the fun of building it is completed, the Picade is a great retro gaming machine and does exactly what I expected. I use Lakka rather than Retropie because of the Pi4 support out of the box, but it was easy enough to do by following the instructions on Github.
Perhaps my only disappointment is that the joystick and buttons look the same but feel much different than what I remember from the arcade games of my youth, and I have the impression that they won't last long. But maybe it was unreasonable of me to expect the same level of build quality of machines that would cost thousands of euros nowadays.
All in all I'm very happy with the purchase and will be having a lot of fun with the Picade!”
“So fun to build. Only problems I had were mostly down to my own stupidity. The instructions weren't perfect but that is sort of fun to figure out anyway”
“very satisfied of the product, both quality and explanations.
In my case I have found an interesting link to have RetroPie working with RPI 4: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/raspberry-pi-4-game-emulators,40102.html
