“Great product but note the following if using with a Pi 4 like myself.
After the initial installation, the fan was permanently on and the LED was not working. Researching various forums, it’s seems that this is a common issue with the SHIM not making proper contact with the various GPIO pins on a Pi 4. Bending the pins out very slightly to get a tighter fit fixed the issue and the fan is now working perfectly.”
“Great little unit, which keeps my Pi running really cool. Easy to set-up and install as long as you follow the brilliant instructions on the Pimoroni website.”
“Great bit of kit. Be aware that if the LED doesn't work it's probably because there's a bad contact on the friction fit header: https://github.com/pimoroni/fanshim-python/issues/72#issuecomment-617748724”
“Fanshim is the simplest way to keep your Pi4 cool, quiet (& compact too when used with the Pibow case). Carefully push it on to the Pi header - install the Python software and away you go. The customisable sript means you can decide at what temperature the fan switches on and off. 2 things to note though. The fan doesn't have a guard. It isn't that powerful so won't chop fingers off - but if the pi isn't correctly positioned this could stop the cooler from spinning. If you are fitting HATs to your Pi Fanshim may not be what you need. Other than that this is a brilliant product and worth every penny.”
