“It did take a while for the Shim to be delivered but it did arrive, nicely packaged. Instructions were not included, I was able to find the instructions on the Primoroni website though, so all went well. The Pi4 is running around 56 degrees, a little high for my taste, but could be I don't have the right script running. Anyway, it is a cute little fan and does its job. Very happy it arrived and I can now work confidently with my Pi4.”
“This has, so far, proved a really effective means of keepinng the RPi4 below the 80C at which the device starts self-throttling. The CPU of my RPi4 starts getting hot very quickly under load, rising from (resting) 50C to (busy) 70C within a minute. The fan SHIM can bring this down quickly under intermittent load, or keeps the temperature at about 70C under constant high load. I'll be interested to see how it behaves in summer, and its temperature-colour-coded leds are about as exciting as life has got under COVID-19 house arrest.”
