Great little camera to see what amazing adventures our cat goes on when we are out. Currently her adventures involve stealth mode (being still to avoid detection) and that is about it!! My 8 year old daughter says it was easy to put together. Slight issue with MotionEyesOS which was sorted after looking on Pimoroni Forum. We are very happy with it, just wish our lazy cat did more!

A fun way to use a Pi Zero W mini computer as a self contained motion sensing security camera. The octopus shape not only adds fun and soul to this project but makes the camera less obtrusive when attached to a window. All you need to compliment this kit and get it up and running is a micro SD card and power supply. Assembling the kit takes about 20 minutes and does require some care when handling the tiny camera module with its ribbon connector cable. The kit includes a USB power cable although you'll most likely need a longer one to power the project. There's also a HDMI converter and micro usb adapter to get you started in installing the software to the Micro SD card (not supplied). You also get a gpio header should you wish to use the pi for other projects but it's not required for the camera. Installing Motion Eye OS was a breeze thanks to the ready available disk image. Performance wise the quality of the camera is surprisingly good. In fast network mode you can view almost realtime fluid hd video over a fast network but without capturing or motion detection. Focusing is fixed but fine for general monitoring. Low light performance is OK, even with the iso at 800 and brightness 55% in fast network mode there's not too much noise. Capturing with motion detection works really well although you won't get fast frame rates except at very low resolution 320x240. At 800x600 its around 2-3fps. Overall though impressive and a great introduction into CCTV for the home for just ВЈ40

This is a great little product, easy to put together and fun to use. The only negative isn't really related to the product, but to do with the MotionEyeOS recommended software, in that it doesn't work with wifi initially. You have to first connect it using a network cable then get it to connect to wifi. If anyone can recommend another piece of software I can use with it instead that'd be great.

Does what it says on the tin. Not only that: it's also easily built in exactly the short 30 minutes advertised. After that, your imagination is the limit. Want to be curtain twitcher? Sorted. Watch your guinea pigs eat, sleep, sh*t, and generally laze about? Knock yourself out! And, not to forget: enviable customer service and speedy delivery. Amazon, beware! Highly recommended.

Received in few days, that's a pleasure to deal with it. Octocam is easy to assemble with a funny look. Another nice project from Pimoroni! Now, it's time to play with it!

Bought on a whim, you can achieve the same results for much less. However, it's all very nicely presented and the box is useful for storing spare bits. Probably wouldn't recommend as a STEM project as whilst it's very good at what it does, it's a bit boring. Robot kit next for me.
