because the extender bolts are not very extended there was not much chance of increasing the height to anything useful

I bought the ninja diffuser layer to use on top of a Ninja Pibow with a Unicorn Hat HD. It's just like the diffuser supplied with the Unicorn Hat, but bigger and the nuts/bolts don't obstruct the view to the pixels from some angles. The only thing that would make this purchase better is if this layer came with 4 black bolts to look nicer and not stand out so much (I sprayed mine with black matte paint). It's only natural to have those since the small Unicorn Hat diffuser comes with black ones already (the short metal ones).

When I first bought a Raspberry Pi (Model B), I foolishly bought some cheap perspex case from eBay - it was horrible and my Pi rattled around inside. I then saw the Ninja Pibow and it has been my favourite case for years! In fact, I still house my original Model B in the Ninja Pibow to this very day! Being a Pibow fan, I have since bought two more - the coupГ© and the newer Ninja Pibow for the Pi 2 / 3 and they are great. However, as I recently bought the ASUS Tinker Board, I wanted to use the Pibow to house this, and with a little modification, it worked! However, as the ASUS Tinker Board runs quite hot, I have decided to experiment with a cooling 5v powered Noctua fan, but I needed a little extra height due to the HUGE heatsink on the Tinker Board. I bought two height extension layers, and some longer 50mm M3 bolts (M3 bolts from eBay - would be great if Pimoroni sold these) and now my ASUS Tinker Board is housed nicely in the extra-tall Ninja Pibow. The layers come individually packaged in protective cardboard, to prevent damage during delivery - nice touch! I only wish I bought three instead, just for some more wiggle room! Will add that to my next order I guess...

The ninja diffuser is a functional piece of equipment meant to soften the intensive light coming from an Unicorn HAT, for example. Also it looks perfect on the Ninja Pibow Case. Now all I'd like is a Ninja bottom like that. :)

As others have said the LEGO layer is a well built addition to the Pi but it is a bit of a let down that it is quite tricky to attach any kind of larger LEGO brick to the underside of the build. You can get around it with a layer of two of 1x2 plates (which also helps get past the locking nuts) but it would be better if you could easily attach the larger pieces of LEGO in your collection.

Each of these options for expanding and repurposing the pibow case design to something else is a great way to avoid having to buy another case. Just make sure you read all the details for any option you consider buying. The extension layer is just one, despite the photo showing a few on top of a pibow chassis. Even a single one does require longer bolts on a full height pibow.
