“I got the lego compatible base and it works quite well. There are limitations though. You need to use smaller pieces of Lego to attach to it as full-length pieces are quite difficult to attach. Also because of the nylok nuts protruding slightly you can't attach it onto a big sheet anyway.”
“After seeing some reviews about the Pibow Audio case looking odd with the DAC sticking proud at the top layer, I decided to purchase another clear layer to combat this.
This really does look loads better than previous. The only slightly disappointing thing to note is...
It has a big "8" engraved into the layer (like all the other Pibow cases) which on my Pibow Audio is a clear top layer and does spoil the look of both the case and additonal layer. Although a minor issue worth noting”
“A while back (just under a year at the time of writing) I got the frosted diffuser and Lego layers. While I couldn't be happier with the diffuser, all the holes on the Lego layer were jagged and many didn't actually fit studs into them. It's not a total loss, however, as Lego Technic pins/clips will fit just fine (so long as you don't mind them touching the bottom of the pi), but I still feel the Lego base is not the best quality product Pimoroni has made.”
“I got the Tangerine pibow for my son. Unfortunately there is no GPIO outlet for the Pi2 Pibow. So to make things a bit simple instead of buying new case, we just got the coupe top. The only issue is the lack of shorter screws. Adding that would make converting the case more comparable to the coupe case.”
“I agree with Ethan 100%. Once you've used the diffuser, you won't want to go back.
It's also worth noting that, with the Unicorn HAT housed underneath a diffuser layer, you can leave the Pi alone with an inquisitive 10 year old without worrying about their eyesight quite so much. Afterall...the more you tell a kid not to go above 20% brightness on the Unicorn HAT, the more they will want to do it once your back is turned... just to see what happens.”
“If you have a Unicorn HAT, the diffuser layer is a necessity if you don't want to blind yourself! The diffuser also blends the pixels together so designs look more cohesive. Once you use it, you won't be able to use a Unicorn HAT without a diffuser again!”
